General inspection showing no apparent violations and no pending violations, orders or open matters with the Construction Official
Use of the building must have existed before (no unapproved change of use)

Certificate of continued occupancy letter (Borough Code Section 9-1.3)	$150

Inspections are conducted Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Smoke alarm on each level and outside each separate sleeping area, near the bedrooms (Borough code)
Carbon monoxide detectors as required by N.J.S.A. 52:27D-133.3
Portable fire extinguisher (ABC type, no larger than 10 pounds, mounted within 10 feet of the kitchen) (Borough code still lists it)

Fees

Smoke detector compliance certificate, application more than 10 business days before change of occupant	$50.00
Application four to 10 business days before change of occupant	$100.00
Application less than four business days before change of occupant	$150.00

Fee depends on business days between the application and the change of occupant: more than 10 business days for the lowest fee.
