- Requirements
- Separate smoke/CO certificate of compliance from the Fire Prevention Bureau (the Borough calls it the "Smoke Certificate for CCO")
- Handrails secured on any stair with 3 or more risers or over 24 inches high, including attic, basement and exterior stairs; no temporary wood railings
- Front door deadbolt may not be keyed on both sides
- No open slots in the main electric panel; GFI outlets required
- Traps on all sinks, toilets, baths and showers; gas valves on all appliances and unused gas lines capped
- Chimney base sealed around smoke pipes; boiler and water heater smoke pipes screwed at all joints
- Permits and final inspections closed for any construction work, water heater or boiler replacement
- Sump pumps must discharge outside, not into the house sewer
- Shrubs within 10 feet of a roadway (25 feet of an intersection) no taller than 3 1/2 feet
- House number at least 3 inches high, visible from the street
- Sidewalks may not be lifted, broken or cracked; soil movement will be inspected; Borough property maintenance code applies inside and out

- Under the Borough Code, the owner allows the inspection within 5 days of paying the fee and applying, and the certificate (or a 14-day temporary certificate, or a denial) is issued within 5 days of the inspection.

Smoke and CO alarm certificate
Required- Requirements
- Smoke alarms on each level including the basement and habitable attic, outside each sleeping area within 10 feet, and in any room with a fuel-fired fireplace
- Smoke alarms must be less than 10 years old and UL listed; battery alarms must be sealed 10-year units; 110-volt interconnected systems may not be converted to battery alarms
- Carbon monoxide alarms on all levels with sleeping areas, within 10 feet of all sleeping areas; CO alarms must be less than seven (7) years old
- Portable fire extinguisher, at least 2A-10:BC, no more than 10 pounds, mounted in or within 10 feet of the kitchen near an exit path (form still lists it)
