- Requirements
- General inspection of the visible parts of the house, property and other structures for Borough ordinance, Uniform Construction Code and Uniform Fire Code violations and unsafe conditions
- Smoke alarms working and maintained as required at original construction; battery-only alarms must be 10-year sealed units (effective January 1, 2019)
- Carbon monoxide alarm within 10 feet of each bedroom area
- Portable fire extinguisher, 2A:10B:C, no larger than 10 pounds, mounted within 10 feet of the kitchen (form still lists it)
- NFPA report required on all low voltage alarm systems; someone on site who knows how to reset the alarm system
- Electrical covers, handrails on stairs with more than three risers, working faucets and toilets, operable bedroom windows, egress locks without keys (no double cylinder deadbolts)
- Garage fire-resistive rating maintained, gas piping strapped with shut-offs (no aluminum piping), clearance to combustibles, pool barriers, house numbers at least 4 inches
- All open permits must be closed; work done without permits must be permitted and inspected before the CCO is issued

- Apply at least 20 business days before the change of occupancy; the Code Official inspects within 10 business days of a complete application. The application form says the department has 10 working days to approve or deny.

Smoke and CO alarm certificate
