Requirements
  • Borough CCO application, which is also the smoke detector, carbon monoxide and fire extinguisher certification form
  • Access to the dwelling unit, basement, attic and common areas for the inspection
  • New buyer or tenant names and the number of dwelling units must be listed on the application
  • Fire extinguisher (form still lists it)

CCO, one-family dwelling (sale or rental), request received more than 20 business days before the change of occupant$100.00
CCO, two-family dwelling (sale or rental), request received more than 20 business days before the change of occupant$150.00
CCO request received 10 to 20 days before the change of occupant$200.00 one-family, $300.00 two-family (double the base fee)
CCO request received less than 10 days before the change of occupant$300.00 one-family, $450.00 two-family (triple the base fee)
Timing
Fees go up when the request comes in late: base fee more than 20 business days before the change of occupant, double at 10 to 20 days, triple at under 10 days.
Valid for
A temporary certificate of occupancy (90 day maximum, not extendable) is available at half the fee plus a 120% bond for unfinished work.

  • Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms checked on the Borough's combined smoke detector / carbon monoxide / fire extinguisher certification (the CCO application)
  • Access to the dwelling unit, basement, attic and common areas
  • Fire extinguisher (form still lists it)
