- Inspection of the visual parts of the house for Borough code violations, with no pending violations or orders from the Construction, Property Maintenance or Zoning Officials
- Smoke alarms on each level and within 10 feet of each sleeping area (10-year sealed battery units where battery powered); carbon monoxide alarms; listed in the application
- Portable fire extinguisher 2A-10B:C within 10 feet of the kitchen (form still lists it)
- A low voltage smoke alarm system used as the primary system must have been inspected by a qualified technician within 12 months; proof shown to the Fire Inspector
- Zoning inspection: pool fence and self-latching gates, visual exterior check, sidewalks (trip hazards must be replaced before closing), house number visible, no open building permits
- List any deck, fence, garage, shed, pool or finished basement on the application

Smoke and CO alarm certificate
Required- Requirements
- Smoke alarms on each level and within ten feet of each separate sleeping area, listed to ANSI/UL 217; basement alarms near the stairway to the floor above
- Ten-year sealed battery smoke alarms where battery powered; hardwired alarms from original construction may not be replaced with battery units; replace alarms older than 10 years
- Carbon monoxide alarms (UL 2034) for each separate sleeping area; combination units are acceptable
- Portable fire extinguisher 2A-10B:C, no more than 10 pounds, within 10 feet of the kitchen, mounted, serviced and tagged in the past 12 months or with a recent receipt (form still lists it)
- Low voltage primary alarm systems need a technician inspection within 12 months
