Certificate of Occupancy Required

Certificate of Continued Occupancy (CCO) · Borough of Bogota Building Department (Construction Code and Zoning Official)

  • Borough CCO application, which is also the smoke detector, carbon monoxide and fire extinguisher certification form
  • Access to the dwelling unit, basement, attic and common areas for the inspection
  • New buyer or tenant names and the number of dwelling units must be listed on the application
  • Fire extinguisher (form still lists it)

  • Timing: Fees go up when the request comes in late: base fee more than 20 business days before the change of occupant, double at 10 to 20 days, triple at under 10 days.
  • Good for: A temporary certificate of occupancy (90 day maximum, not extendable) is available at half the fee plus a 120% bond for unfinished work.

Smoke and CO alarm certificate Required

  • Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms checked on the Borough's combined smoke detector / carbon monoxide / fire extinguisher certification (the CCO application)
  • Access to the dwelling unit, basement, attic and common areas
  • Fire extinguisher (form still lists it)
