Requirements

Township housing inspection before any new occupancy; a certificate is needed for each new occupant
Separate fire certificate of occupancy (smoke/CO) from the fire district that covers the property
Application lists the new owners and any intended occupants over 2 years of age
Certificate confirms the building and premises comply with all other Township ordinances

Requirements

Smoke alarm on every floor, including basements, and in the hallway outside the bedrooms
Carbon monoxide alarm in the hallway outside the bedrooms
Battery smoke alarms (and combination smoke/CO alarms) must be 10-year sealed battery units
Hardwired smoke or CO alarms over 10 years old must be replaced, and only with hardwired alarms

Fire District No. 1 part of the Township (490 Lloyd Road firehouse area); confirm which district covers the property

Timing

Fee depends on business days before the inspection; business days start when payment is made. Inspections between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.
