  • Application for Housing and Building Code Change of Occupancy & Transfer of Title, with owner, buyer and all occupants listed
  • Separate smoke detector, carbon monoxide alarm and fire extinguisher certificate from the Keyport Fire Prevention Bureau (smoke fee added to the CO fee)
  • Property should be vacant for the inspection; unlock the door and wait outside
  • GFI outlets in every bathroom and at kitchen counter outlets within six feet of a sink before a Certificate of Occupancy is issued (Code 12-12.1)
  • Fire extinguisher, minimum 5 lb. ABC, mounted in the kitchen (form still lists it)

Smoke and CO alarm certificate

  • Smoke alarms on each level, including basements, and within 10 feet outside each sleeping area
  • Ten-year sealed battery single station smoke alarms listed to ANSI/UL 217; AC powered alarms from original construction may not be replaced with battery alarms
  • Carbon monoxide alarm within 10 feet of all sleeping areas
  • Minimum 5 lb. ABC fire extinguisher in the kitchen, visible, unblocked and mounted with the manufacturer's bracket (form still lists it)
