- Requirements
- Inspection of the dwelling, exterior and accessory structures for compliance with the Township property maintenance code and ordinances
- All construction permits and violations must be closed out before the inspection is scheduled
- Municipal charges (property taxes and sewer) must be paid current
- Smoke detector on each level; carbon monoxide alarms outside each sleeping area in units with fuel-fired appliances or an attached garage
- Wood-burning fireplaces and stoves need a certification from a CSIA certified chimney sweep
- Oil tanks not in use must be removed or filled under a demolition permit
- Sidewalks and stairs free of cracks, holes and hazards
- Estates must submit the surrogate's certificate; corporations must submit formation documents or annual report
- One application per residential building

- Apply more than five business days before closing to avoid the $50 rush increase. The application must be completed and the inspection finalized within 30 days or the application becomes void.

Smoke and CO alarm certificate
Required- Requirements
- Smoke alarms on each level and outside each separate sleeping area; 10-year sealed battery units, hardwired alarms may not be replaced with battery-only units (Township handout quoting N.J.A.C. 5:70-4.19)
- Smoke detectors in or next to a kitchen must be photoelectric (Township CI checklist)
- Carbon monoxide alarms (UL 2034) near sleeping areas in homes with a fuel-burning device or attached garage
- Township handout title still mentions portable fire extinguishers
