Requirements
  • Interior and exterior inspection by Township Code Enforcement
  • New or currently tagged 2A10BC fire extinguisher mounted in the kitchen (checklist still lists it)
  • Smoke detectors and CO detector
  • GFCI outlets at sinks, washing machines and bathrooms
  • Tip guard for the oven/stove
  • No open wiring; no holes in walls, ceilings or floors; no cracked or broken windows
  • Screens in all windows; handrails on interior and exterior stairs; working interior doors
  • Property overgrowth cleared
  • Heating and venting inspection current within 1 year
  • Application lists the number of bedrooms and the names of everyone who will occupy the unit
Fees
Certificate of occupancy on sale, one or two family dwelling, per dwelling unit$100.00
Reinspection after the second failed reinspection, residential$75.00
Resale MCCO application fee (application form)$100.00
Timing
Inspections are scheduled within ten calendar days and on a weekend; allow enough time between the inspection and the move-in date.
