- Requirements
- Property history review: all construction permits closed, all violations closed and penalties paid, deed and zoning restrictions checked
- Work done without required construction permits is sent to the Construction Official and cited; the owner must obtain the permits
- Exterior: accessory structures, walks and driveways in good repair; yard free of overgrowth and rubbish; wells and septic maintained or properly abandoned; pool gates self-closing and self-latching at least 54 inches high
- Address numbers at least 3 inches high on the house or mailbox; exterior surfaces free of peeling paint and termite activity; stairs, decks and porches with approved handrails and guards
- Interior: no second kitchen unless deed-restricted and permitted; no basement sleeping quarters without a permitted second exit; windows and doors working with screens; handrails on stairs with more than three risers; guards on landings 30 inches or higher
- Bathroom exhaust fan or window; metal dryer duct vented outside; fuel-fired appliances properly vented; front door opens from inside without a key (no double-keyed deadbolts); sump pump not tied to the sanitary sewer; all utilities on
- All parts of the premises must be accessible for the inspection

CCO, sale of a single-family home, condominium or townhouse, initial inspection $125 Second and later reinspections, each (first reinspection free) $50 - Timing
- Submit the application and fees at least 10 business days before the new owner moves in. Inspections can be requested up to 30 days ahead and are scheduled in the order received. A CCO or denial is issued within 10 business days of a complete application; a reinspection is done within 3 business days of the request.

Smoke and CO alarm certificate
Required- Requirements
- Smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms per N.J.A.C. 5:70-4.19
- Fire extinguisher (Township sheets still list it): the fee summary and workflow still call the certificate a smoke alarm, carbon monoxide alarm and portable fire extinguisher certificate (CSACMAPFEC)
