- Township housing inspection before any new occupancy; a certificate is needed for each new occupant
- Separate fire certificate of occupancy (smoke/CO) from the fire district that covers the property
- Application lists the new owners and any intended occupants over 2 years of age
- Certificate confirms the building and premises comply with all other Township ordinances

Smoke and CO alarm certificate Required
- Smoke alarm on every floor, including basements, and in the hallway outside the bedrooms
- Carbon monoxide alarm in the hallway outside the bedrooms
- Battery smoke alarms (and combination smoke/CO alarms) must be 10-year sealed battery units
- Hardwired smoke or CO alarms over 10 years old must be replaced, and only with hardwired alarms
