- Requirements
- Recent signed and sealed survey for all single family homes (not required for condos); one issued within the past 60 days is recommended
- All open construction permits must be closed before the certificate is issued
- House number on the building itself, at least 30 inches above ground, at least 3 inches tall, on a contrasting background, visible from the street; stick-on numbers not accepted
- Carbon monoxide alarm outside and within 10 feet of every sleeping area; extra alarm if a bedroom is on another level or more than 10 feet away
- Smoke alarms on every level including the basement and outside sleeping areas; battery-only alarms must be 10-year sealed units
- A hardwired or monitored alarm system cannot be replaced with battery-only alarms; monitored systems must be put in test mode for the inspection
- No zoning violations; any addition, shed, deck, fence or other improvement built without zoning or construction permits must be legalized first
- Pool fencing and gates must meet Section 305 of the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code
- Someone must be present unless the property is completely empty; inaccessible areas fail the inspection
- Tax assessor property record card is checked during the inspection

Required- Requirements
- Battery-only smoke alarms must be 10-year sealed units (per Voorhees resale packet and Fire Department page)
- Carbon monoxide alarm within 10 feet of each sleeping area
- Hardwired or monitored alarm systems cannot be downgraded to battery-only alarms
