- Ceiling-mounted at least 4 inches from walls, at least 36 inches from cold air returns and bathroom doors, away from ceiling fans; wall-mounted 4 to 12 inches below ceiling
- UL-approved CO detector in the vicinity of each sleeping area
- House number visible from the street, Arabic numerals at least 3 inches
- 2-A:10-B:C extinguisher no more than 10 lbs, charged, in a conspicuous place no more than 10 feet from the kitchen, instructions visible
