- Requirements
- Township housing inspection of the whole house, inside and out; all violations corrected before the CO is issued
- Exterior: driveway and walks free of cracks or raised sections; lawn, trash and debris cleaned up; fence stable; screens in windows (May 1 to Oct 1)
- Roof: no missing or broken shingles, maximum 2 layers; siding and gutters in repair; peeling paint scraped and repainted
- House number: 6 inch numbers on the building
- Interior: walls, ceilings and floors in good repair; working lights, outlets and switches with cover plates; windows open and stay up; no double-keyed deadbolts
- Kitchen and bath: working burners, plumbing without leaks, exhaust fan or window, cabinets in good condition
- Handrails on all staircases; garage conversions may need permits
- Smoke and CO detectors within 10 feet of bedrooms; smoke alarms must be ten-year sealed battery type
- Portable fire extinguisher (still listed on the township checklist): at least 2:A:10B:C, no more than 10 lbs, mounted within 10 ft of the kitchen and not more than 5 ft above the floor
- Electric service panel with covers, working and labeled breakers; water heater with pressure relief pipe and bonding
- Original heating certificate from a Willingboro-registered heating contractor (valid 30 days)
- Private sewer lateral video inspection report from a master plumber showing no repairs needed (valid 6 months)
- Open construction permits must be passed and closed; work done without permits must be permitted
- Copy of a current property survey for all resales

Resale housing inspection (includes one re-inspection within 30 days) $150.00 - Timing
- The township advises scheduling the inspection within 30 days of the settlement date, because the CO is good for 30 days. All violations must be reinspected within 30 days of the first inspection.

Smoke and CO alarm certificate
Required- Requirements
- Smoke detector on each level including basements (not attics or crawl spaces)
- Smoke detector and CO alarm outside each separate sleeping area and within 10 feet of bedrooms
- Battery smoke alarms must be the ten-year sealed type (township checklist)
- The township forms (2026 Certificate of Compliance and the resale checklist) still require a fire extinguisher within 10 feet of the kitchen, rated at least 2:A:10B:C and no more than 10 lbs, mounted with the manufacturer bracket not more than 5 ft above the floor
