- Smoke detectors on all floors (Township Code 274-5); battery units must be 10-year sealed
- Carbon monoxide alarm within 10 feet of sleeping areas (UL 2034) if there is a fuel-burning appliance or attached garage
- Portable fire extinguisher, 2A:10BC residential, no more than 10 lb, within 10 feet of the kitchen (form still lists it)
- House numbers in Arabic numerals, at least 3 inches, on the front wall or porch and visible from the street (Township Code 200-7)
- Open construction permits and violations must be closed first

Smoke and CO alarm certificate
Required- Requirements
- All battery smoke alarms must be 10-year sealed units; alarms on each level and outside each sleeping area; alarms need not be interconnected; hardwired alarms from original construction cannot be replaced with battery units
- Smoke/CO combination units are acceptable but must have the 10-year sealed battery
- Fire extinguisher at least 2A:10BC, no more than 10 lb, within 10 feet of the kitchen, top no higher than 60 inches, on the maker's bracket, near an exit path, with the owner's manual; proof of purchase accepted instead of a service tag (form created March 2024 still lists it)
- House numbers at least 3 inches, Arabic numerals, contrasting and visible from the street
