- Requirements
- Inspection by Code Enforcement (the form has spaces for an inspection date and a re-inspection date)
- Zoning permit, Residential-Resale type ($100.00), included in the resale application packet
- Smoke detector / carbon monoxide compliance application (Ordinance #2572), included in the resale application packet
- Smoke alarms on every level and outside each separate sleeping area; existing hardwired systems kept; 10-year sealed battery alarms where not hardwired; alarms no more than 10 years old
- Carbon monoxide alarms within 10 feet of sleeping areas (checklist says on all levels); not required if no fuel-burning appliances and no attached garage
- Portable fire extinguisher within 10 feet of the kitchen, 2A-10B:C, no more than 10 pounds, mounted with top no more than 5 feet off the floor, tagged within 12 months or with a recent purchase receipt (form still lists it)
- Exterior free of trash, debris, high grass and weeds; foundation and exterior walls in good repair; gutters and downspouts working
- Fences, sheds, pools and decks in good condition with a permit on file
- Handrails on 4 or more risers; guardrails on open stairs, landings, balconies and decks
- Water heater relief tail pipe no more than 6 inches off the ground; outlet and switch covers secured; GFCI outlets in kitchens and baths; hard metal dryer duct
- Basement renovations, additions and remodels without township records are subject to permits and inspections
- Application asks for buyer name and contact and the purchase price

Smoke and CO alarm certificate
Required- Requirements
- Smoke alarms on every level (including basements and finished attics) and outside each separate sleeping area; unfinished attics and crawl spaces excluded
- Keep existing hardwired or interconnected systems; 10-year sealed battery single-station alarms where not hardwired; alarms no more than 10 years old
- Carbon monoxide alarms within 10 feet of all sleeping areas; not required if there are no fuel-burning appliances and no attached garage
- Portable fire extinguisher within 10 feet of the kitchen, UL listed 2A-10B:C, no more than 10 pounds, mounted on its bracket with the top no more than 5 feet off the floor, serviced and tagged by a certified NJ contractor within 12 months or with a recent purchase receipt (form still lists it)
