- Compliance with the Township Property Maintenance code (Chapter 390)
- All open construction permits and violations closed out
- 10-year sealed battery smoke and carbon monoxide detectors properly installed (hardwired systems stay hardwired)
- House number clearly visible, at least 2 1/4 inches high and contrasting
- Pools and hot tubs: 48-inch barrier, self-closing self-latching gates, and permits on file
- Health Department Certificate of Completion: well decommissioning if on town water, septic inspection report if on septic
- Secondary power source warning label within 18 inches of the electric panel and meter, where a generator, solar or battery system is present
- Copy of a survey, if available

- Submit the application to the Zoning Department at least 30 days before the change in ownership (recommended). The code requires at least seven business days' notice for inspections; less notice costs an extra $50.00.

Smoke and CO alarm certificate
Required- Requirements
- Homes with 110-volt interconnected smoke alarms must keep that system working and may not convert to battery
- All smoke alarms less than 10 years old and UL listed; new battery alarms must be sealed 10-year units
- Older homes: at least one battery smoke alarm on every level, including the basement and habitable attic, plus attics or crawl spaces with combustion appliances
- Smoke alarms in the hallway outside bedrooms within 10 feet of all bedroom doors; basement alarm near the bottom of the stairs
- Carbon monoxide alarms on all levels with bedrooms, outside bedrooms within 10 feet of the doors (hardwired, plug-in or battery)
- Central station alarm systems must be tested at the inspection with someone present who can reset them
- Fire extinguishers are no longer required (per the 2026 application)
