Requirements
  • Certificate of Land Use (zoning) from Planning, (609) 347-5404, or the CRDA Tourism District, (609) 347-0500
  • Smoke certification from Fire Prevention (single-family or duplex)
  • Pest certification: report from a licensed exterminator that the unit is free of bed bugs, other insects and rodents
  • All utilities turned on for the inspection
  • No rubbish, debris or bulk garbage left on the property before the new occupancy
  • Buyer details (and all members or principals if the buyer is an LLC, corporation or partnership)

Smoke and CO alarm certificate

Requirements
  • Notarized owner affidavit (Smoke Certificate Affidavit) attached to the online application
  • 10-year sealed battery smoke alarm on each level, including basements (not attic or crawl space)
  • Smoke alarm and CO alarm outside each separate sleeping area, within 10 feet of it
  • Existing AC-powered or interconnected alarms in homes built after January 1977 must be kept working
  • Portable fire extinguisher 2A-10B:C, no more than 10 lb, on a hanger within 10 feet of the kitchen (2020 affidavit still lists it)
