- Smoke certification from Fire Prevention (single-family or duplex)
- Pest certification: report from a licensed exterminator that the unit is free of bed bugs, other insects and rodents
- All utilities turned on for the inspection
- No rubbish, debris or bulk garbage left on the property before the new occupancy

Smoke and CO alarm certificate Required
- Notarized owner affidavit (Smoke Certificate Affidavit) attached to the online application
- 10-year sealed battery smoke alarm on each level, including basements (not attic or crawl space)
- Smoke alarm and CO alarm outside each separate sleeping area, within 10 feet of it
- Existing AC-powered or interconnected alarms in homes built after January 1977 must be kept working
- Portable fire extinguisher 2A-10B:C, no more than 10 lb, on a hanger within 10 feet of the kitchen (2020 affidavit still lists it)
