- Requirements
- Fire safety certificate (smoke alarms, CO alarms) from the Pleasantville Fire Department
- Heat and hot water heater certificate from a licensed plumber or HVAC technician (electric units do not need one)
- Fireplace certification if there is one: gas units by an HVAC technician or plumber, wood burning fireplaces by a licensed chimney sweep
- All utilities on at the time of inspection
- Home fit for habitation under the City Property Maintenance Code: no fire or accident hazards, adequate ventilation, light and sanitary facilities, no dilapidation, disrepair, structural defects or uncleanliness
- Buyers using an LLC must give the owner's or property caregiver's name and contact information

Smoke and CO alarm certificate
Required- Requirements
- Homes built before April 4, 1991: smoke alarm on each level including the basement (not attic or crawl space) and near each separate sleeping area
- Homes built after April 4, 1991: smoke alarm on each level and in each bedroom, 110-volt interconnected with battery backup
- Battery smoke alarms must be 10-year sealed (hardwired alarms excluded)
- Carbon monoxide alarms in the immediate vicinity of the sleeping areas
- Portable fire extinguisher: the 2025 application says it is required for multi-family properties only (excluding one- and two-family homes), 2.5 to 10 lb ABC dry chemical, mounted within 10 feet of the kitchen. The Fire Department web page still says extinguishers are required in 1, 2 and 3 family dwellings.
