- Requirements
- Working smoke detector on each level (not attic or crawl space) and in the vicinity of each bedroom door
- Carbon monoxide alarm installed and working
- Hardwired interconnected smoke/CO systems installed with the house must stay in place and working
- Proper covers on all switches, outlets and junction boxes
- No extension or zip cords used as permanent wiring
- Pressure relief discharge pipe on boilers and water heaters, ending about 6 to 8 inches off the floor
- Gas piping strapped, shut-off valves near appliances, unused gas pipes capped; no aluminum gas piping
- Required clearances around fuel-burning appliances
- Pool fences and gates in place and working
- House numbers at least 3 inches high and visible from the street
- Clear sight triangle at corners (vegetation trimmed)
- No sump pump, roof drain or other connections to the sanitary sewer
- Sound roof; leaders discharge away from the foundation and not onto the neighbor's yard
- All work has construction permits that are closed, and the use conforms to zoning

Smoke and CO alarm certificate
Required- Requirements
- Smoke detectors on every level (not crawl spaces or unfinished attics) and outside each sleeping area; basement detectors near the bottom of the stairs
- Carbon monoxide alarms in every separate sleeping area per NFPA 720 and the manufacturer
- Hardwired interconnected smoke/CO systems from original construction must remain in place and working
