Certificate of Occupancy
Required- Certificate
- Certificate of Continued Occupancy (current application titled Certificate of Resale)

- Requirements
- Grass cut, no snow or ice, and no trash or debris on the property, or the inspection is cancelled
- Violations found at the first inspection are mailed within 2 weeks and must be fixed within 30 days of the letter; call to schedule a re-inspection
- Open permits for the property must be dealt with before the certificate is issued
- Smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, oil tanks, grass and weeds, and litter or debris cannot be deferred to the buyer by affidavit
- No one may live in the basement
- If there is a third floor or full attic, the buyer's affidavit must state it will not be used as a separate unit or dwelling area (unless the attic is big enough and has proper egress)
- A smoke certificate from the Fire Department is also required
- Bulk trash is limited to three items a week; larger cleanouts need a private hauler and a dumpster permit

Required- Requirements
- Township rules list smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and fire extinguishers as items the seller must complete before the Certificate of Continued Occupancy (they cannot be deferred to the buyer)
