- Requirements
- Records search for open construction permits, fines, fees, penalties or any money owed to any Borough entity
- Any open permits must get their inspections and certificates (or be exempted by the Construction Official) before the CRC is issued
- Smoke/CO certificate (CSACMAPFEC) from Flemington Borough Fire Safety; the code says no certificate of occupancy or continued certificate of occupancy is issued for a dwelling unit until that section is met
- Owner and seller must certify in writing to the fire official that the home complies with the smoke/CO rules before the sale

- The code says to apply and pay at least two months before the change of ownership; the fee is lowest when filed 16 to 40 business days before closing.

Smoke and CO alarm certificate
Required- Requirements
- Smoke alarms on every level (excluding crawl spaces and unfinished attics) and within 10 feet of each bedroom; homes built 1990 or later also need one in each bedroom
- Alarm type depends on the year built: before 1977, 10-year sealed battery alarms; 1977 to 1983, electric alarms; 1984 to 1989, interconnected electric; 1990 on, interconnected electric with battery backup
- Smoke and CO alarms no older than 10 years from manufacture; listed to ANSI/UL 217, installed per NFPA 72
- Carbon monoxide alarm within 10 feet of each sleeping area (electric, battery or plug-in)
- Fire extinguisher (form still lists it): mounted within 10 feet of the kitchen in the path of egress, top no higher than 5 feet, 2A:10B:C, no more than 10 lbs, with proof of purchase within 1 year or a service tag within 12 months, and the manual left for the new occupant
