- Requirements
- Home may not be occupied until the Housing/Zoning Officer issues a certificate of occupancy
- Water test (NJDEP and federal EPA chemical, bacteriological and gross alpha limits); not needed on a public water system
- Chimney certification for all fossil fuel systems
- Smoke detectors (each level, including the top of the basement stairs and a heated garage) and carbon monoxide alarms near bedrooms
- Electrical panel labeled, 100 amp service or more
- GFCI outlets in kitchen, bathrooms, laundry, garage and outside
- Handrails on basement, porch and deck steps; emergency heater switch at the top of the stairs; heater serviced and inspected
- Water heater relief pipe piped down
- Roof, siding, windows, doors and screens in good repair; house numbered; trash, debris and abandoned vehicles removed
- Fire-resistant door and walls between an attached garage and the house
- Fire extinguisher (2A:10B:C) listed on the Township instructions, which predate P.L.2025, c.19
