- Requirements
- Working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms (the Housing Department inspects for both)
- Ten-year sealed battery smoke alarms on each floor, including the basement and attic, and within 10 feet of all bedrooms
- Battery smoke alarms cannot replace hardwired smoke alarms; hardwired systems must work
- Carbon monoxide alarm within 10 feet of all bedrooms (plug-in, battery or combination units); the Housing Department page says one per floor
- Fire extinguisher (4 to 10 lb) in every kitchen, wall-mounted no higher than 5 feet above the floor (listed on the fire safety sheet bundled with the 2026 sale form)
- Compliance with the Borough's unfit buildings and housing standards ordinances

Required- Requirements
- Ten-year sealed battery smoke alarms on each floor, including the basement and attic, and within 10 feet of all bedrooms (Borough sheet)
- Carbon monoxide alarm within 10 feet of all bedrooms (Borough sheet)
- Fire extinguisher (4 to 10 lb) mounted in the kitchen no higher than 5 feet (still listed on the Borough's 2026 sheet even though the state dropped it from the state certificate in February 2025)
