- Requirements
- Records check (not a physical inspection) for open construction permits
- If permits are open, all final inspections and approvals must be done and certificates issued before the CRCC; the applicant must close all permits and notify the office
- Application must list the closing date
- Exempt if there is no change in physical occupancy for deed corrections, transfers between spouses, new construction needing a CO, estate distributions, refinancing and similar transfers

- Apply at least 10 days before the change of ownership; filing less than 10 days before the certificate is needed costs the expedited fee.

Smoke and CO alarm certificate
Required- Requirements
- Smoke detectors on every level (basement, first and second floors) and in every separate sleeping area; basement detector at the bottom of the basement stairs; detectors over 10 years old must be replaced
- Battery-only smoke and CO units must be 10-year sealed battery models
- Carbon monoxide alarms (UL 2034) within 10 feet of bedroom doors; CO alarms over 7 years old must be replaced unless the manufacturer says otherwise
- Portable fire extinguisher (2A:10B:C, no more than 10 lbs) mounted within 10 feet of the kitchen, less than one year old or tagged within one year (Township form and code still list it)
