- Requirements
- Records review before the sale of any residential structure (Ordinance 2020-14)
- Application lists closing date (required), year built, swimming pool and pool fence, finished basement, and any second kitchen, basement, pool house or similar
- Office checks for open construction permits, open zoning permits, certificates of occupancy/approvals issued, and zoning approval
- The CRC may be approved, approved with conditions, or denied

Smoke and CO alarm certificate
Required- Requirements
- Smoke alarms on each level and within 10 feet of each separate sleeping area; basement alarms near the stairway to the floor above; listed to UL 217 (combination smoke/CO allowed)
- Ten-year sealed battery alarms where none exist or when replacing battery units; original AC-powered alarms may not be replaced with battery alarms
- Replace smoke alarms older than 10 years
- Age-based rules: before 1977 battery alarms on each level and near bedrooms; 1977 to 8-5-1984 AC alarms outside sleeping areas and basement plus battery on first floor; 8-6-1984 to 4-30-1993 interconnected AC alarms on each level; 5-1-1993 on, interconnected AC alarms in each bedroom and on each level with battery backup
- Homes with a monitored NFPA 72 system instead of AC smoke alarms need an inspection and certificate of compliance from a certified alarm contractor or electrician
- Carbon monoxide alarms (UL 2034) within 10 feet of each separate sleeping area; replace when 5 to 7 years old per manufacturer
- Secondary power source label (such as CAUTION: MULTIPLE SOURCES OF POWER, not handwritten) within 18 inches of the main electrical panel and electric meter; the office can supply labels
