- Inspection appointment made by phone with the office
- Housing inspector signs off on the home sale certificate; Fire Marshal signs off on the smoke/CO part
- Application asks for buyer, owner's attorney, closing date, year built and whether the home is owner occupied, rental or bank owned

Smoke and CO alarm certificate
Required- Requirements
- 10-year sealed single-station smoke alarms (Borough says no other battery alarms accepted); hardwired interconnected alarms must all sound when one is tested and cannot be swapped for battery units
- Smoke alarm on every level including the basement (at the base of basement steps), near steps to the second floor, at the top of fixed attic stairs, and within 10 feet of bedrooms
- Carbon monoxide alarm near sleeping rooms in homes with a fuel-burning appliance, fireplace or attached garage (all-electric homes with none of these are exempt)
- Portable 2A-10B:C fire extinguisher within 10 feet of the kitchen in the path of egress, mounted with bracket, serviced/tagged within 12 months or with a recent receipt, manual left for the buyer (Borough Ordinance still requires it)
- Home security alarm systems are not tested
