Rental flood risk notice
A written notice that a 2023 New Jersey law requires covered landlords to give before a lease is signed or renewed. It says whether the rental is in a FEMA flood hazard area and whether the landlord knows it has flooded.
New Jersey example
Before you sign a lease in a 30-unit Hoboken building, the landlord must give you a written flood notice. It says whether the property is in FEMA's 100-year or 500-year floodplain and whether the landlord knows of past flooding in the unit or its parking areas. Buildings with two or fewer units are exempt. If the landlord failed to disclose a FEMA flood zone, you can end the lease with written notice.
