- Requirements
- Smoke detectors on every level including the basement (not crawl spaces or unfinished attics); battery units must be 10-year sealed battery
- Carbon monoxide detector no more than 10 feet outside the bedroom door (battery or electric)
- No cracked window glass or broken window seals (cloudy panes)
- Anti-tip bracket installed for the stove
- No leaking pipes or faucets
- No exposed wiring (uncovered junction boxes, switches, outlets, wire nuts)
- Handrails on all stairways of four or more steps
- No peeling paint
- Furnace flue sealed at the chimney
- Pools need an enclosure with self-closing, self-latching gates that swing away from the pool
- No garbage disposal under the kitchen sink when the home is on public sewer
- Private well: Private Well Testing Act water test results
- Septic: report on the State Onsite System Inspection Form by a licensed septic inspector
- If the home will be rented, the owner must first register as a landlord with the Clerk's Office

- Smoke/CO alarms are checked as 'State Mandated Requirements' in the Township CCO (Certificate of Inspection) inspection
- Battery smoke detectors must be 10-year sealed battery type
