  • Smoke detectors on each level and outside each sleeping area (10 year sealed or hardwired)
  • Carbon monoxide detector near all sleeping areas (less than 10 years old)
  • ABC fire extinguisher mounted within 10 feet of the kitchen, no larger than 10 pounds (as printed on the form)
  • Windows open and stay open
  • GFCI outlets where required, working properly
  • Metal dryer vent connector, not plastic
  • No garbage disposal (not allowed by Borough ordinance)
  • Sump pump discharge meets Borough ordinance
  • Sidewalks and curbs in good condition
  • Permits obtained for all work (plumbing, electric, furnace, water heater, etc.); open permits may delay the certificate
  • Furnace or boiler certification or checklist by a licensed HVAC or plumbing contractor
  • Level 2 chimney certification by a nationally certified chimney sweep for a wood-burning fireplace
