Smoke and CO alarm certificate

Required
Requirements
  • On-site inspection by the Wildwood Fire Prevention Bureau; do not apply until everything is in place
  • Smoke alarms in each sleeping room (City ordinance), outside (within 10 feet of) each sleeping area, and on every level
  • Hardwired smoke alarms must be replaced if more than 10 years past the manufacture date; battery smoke alarms must be sealed battery type
  • CO alarms outside (within 10 feet of) each sleeping area and on every level when there are fuel-burning appliances or an attached garage
  • Homes with a generator, solar panels, battery storage or other secondary power source need a printed label reading 'CAUTION: MULTIPLE SOURCES OF POWER.' within 18 inches of the main electrical panel and the electric meter (handwritten labels not accepted)
  • The January 2026 form does not list a fire extinguisher
  • Any outstanding fees on the property must be settled before the inspection
