North Hanover Township doesn’t require a resale Certificate of Occupancy.

Smoke and CO alarm certificate Required

  • All detectors must be less than 10 years old
  • Smoke alarms on every level including the basement, and within 10 feet of sleeping room doors
  • Homes built before 1978: battery alarms must be 10-year sealed units or the inspection fails
  • Do not replace hardwired smoke alarms with battery alarms; replace bad interconnected alarms with compatible ones
  • Test all smoke detectors before the inspection date
  • CO alarm required if the home has any fuel-burning appliance or an attached garage: on each sleeping level, in hallways near bedrooms (electric or battery)
  • No fire extinguisher required (form says the State and the Township no longer require one)
