Certificate of Occupancy Required
Certificate of Continued Occupancy (CCO) · Borough of Wallington Code Enforcement Officer
- No sale or transfer of title of any structure or unit until a certificate of continued occupancy is obtained
- Inspection by the Code Enforcement Officer (the Tax Assessor may come along to update property records) to confirm the home complies with all Borough ordinances
- The certificate states the property may continue to be used as before and lists the number and designation of the units
- Not required for new construction if the original CO was issued within 18 months of the transfer
- Existing lawful tenants may stay, but the transfer cannot close until the CCO is obtained

- Smoke detector on each level of the dwelling, including basements (not attics or crawl spaces)
- Smoke detector and carbon monoxide alarm outside each separate sleeping area, within 10 feet of all bedrooms
- At least one carbon monoxide detector on each level of the building
