  • Curb and sidewalk free of trip hazards
  • House address posted
  • All railings and spindles in place (36 inch rail height)
  • Grass cut
  • Window screens in place from May 15 to October 1
  • ABC fire extinguisher with the gauge in the green (required for sales)
  • Smoke alarms in each bedroom, on each level and within 10 feet of all bedrooms; CO alarm on each sleeping floor and near any major gas appliance
  • If smoke detectors are monitored, a certificate from the alarm company
  • Dryer vented to the exterior
  • Electric on and appliances working
  • Two outlets in each bedroom; bathroom outlet plus a fan or exhaust window
  • Water heater pressure relief valve discharge checked
  • Blanks in the electric panel
  • Unit clean: no mold in tub, clean rugs, no chipping paint

Smoke and CO alarm certificate Required

  • Smoke alarms: one in each bedroom, one on each level, and one within 10 feet of all bedrooms (battery or hardwired accepted)
  • Carbon monoxide alarm on each sleeping floor and near any major gas burning appliance, per the manufacturer's instructions
  • Portable fire extinguisher, required for sales only: ABC type, no larger than 10 pounds, mounted within 10 feet of the kitchen, gauge in the green (City letter, 2008 scan, and current FAQ)
