Residential Occupancy Certificate (ROC) · Borough of Roselle Division of Code Enforcement
- 10-year sealed battery smoke detectors on all levels including basements and attics over 7 feet high, within 10 feet outside bedrooms; existing hardwired alarms kept
- Carbon monoxide detectors in basements and within 10 feet outside bedrooms, plus inside any bedroom directly above a garage
- 2A10BC fire extinguisher within 10 feet of the kitchen (1 and 2 family)
- Bedroom windows open and close; windows and doors in good repair with proper hardware
- Holes in walls, floors and ceilings repaired; missing tiles replaced and grouted
- Hot and cold water with shut-off valves at kitchen and bath fixtures; toilets secure with shut-offs
- GFI outlets within 6 feet of water and in all bathrooms; cover plates on all outlets, switches and junction boxes; dead wiring removed
- Main electrical service line strapped to the building
- Fireplaces and wood stoves with proper clearances and screens
- Water heaters, boilers and furnaces working; relief valve discharge pipe within 4 inches of the floor; vents secured; gas shut-off in the same room
- Sump pumps discharge outside, not into sanitary lines; garage door openers plugged directly into an outlet
- Roofs, gutters and downspouts in good repair; handrails on stairs with 3 or more risers
- House numbers at least 4 inches high, contrasting and visible from the curb
- Yard cut, trimmed and free of debris; all utilities on
- All open construction permits finalized; work done without permits must get permits
