Certificate of Habitation (property sale) · Borough of Wharton Housing and Zoning Officer (Property Maintenance Enforcement)

  • Inspection by the Zoning and Housing Officer for compliance with all Borough ordinances
  • One GFI-protected receptacle in each bathroom; GFI on receptacles within 5 feet of the kitchen sink and any other water basin
  • Water heater pressure valve extension directed down, at least 12 inches off the floor
  • All empty spaces in the main electric panel covered
  • Handrails on stairways with three steps or more
  • One smoke detector on each level, lithium batteries required
  • Carbon monoxide detector within 10 feet of sleeping areas, 5 feet or lower on the wall
  • Fire extinguisher in the kitchen, ABC type, 10 lbs or less, hung no more than 5 feet off the floor and in view (page still lists it)
  • Two receptacles in each room other than bathrooms; windows stay up when open; glass and screens intact; heat in all habitable rooms; doors on all bedrooms
  • Application lists any previously granted variances, buyer details, residents, bedrooms, bathrooms, units and off-street parking
