- Code Enforcement inspection for compliance with the International Property Maintenance Code (2015 edition) as adopted by the Borough
- Smoke detectors in working order sufficient to warn all occupants, plus one in the basement or cellar, before the CO is issued (Borough Code 10-3)
- If the house has not been raised, a Zoning-Floodplain Development application must be completed before the CO can be issued
- Application lists the prospective owner or tenant and everyone who will occupy the home
- Fees paid by check or money order only

Smoke and CO alarm certificate Required
- Smoke and carbon monoxide alarm certificate required before a 1 or 2 family home is sold (N.J.A.C. 5:70-2.3)
- No Borough checklist for the certificate was found online; state rules apply (smoke alarm on each level and outside sleeping areas, 10-year sealed battery units where battery-only, CO alarm near sleeping areas when there is a fuel-burning appliance or attached garage)
