- Certificate of Inspection from the Code Official before anyone occupies the home after a sale or other transfer of title
- Inspection checklist covers exterior items (grading and drainage, sidewalks free of trip hazards, window screens, handrails, guardrail gaps no more than 5 inches, sump pumps, siding and roof, house numbers 4 inches and visible, labeled trash and recycling cans) and interior items
- Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors on each floor, 10-year sealed
- Kitchen stoves must be tip proof; dryers vented outside; bedroom egress windows at least 24 x 20 with sill no higher than 44 inches
- Living space above a garage needs at least 5/8 inch fire code sheetrock on the ceiling
