Smoke and CO alarm certificate Required
- Smoke alarms in each sleeping room, within 10 feet outside each sleeping area, and on every level
- Hardwired smoke alarms older than 10 years must be replaced; battery smoke alarms must be the 10-year sealed battery type
- CO alarms within 10 feet outside each sleeping area and on every level when there are fuel-burning appliances or an attached garage
- Fire extinguisher at least 2A:10BC, new (current year) or tagged by a licensed agent, for each cooking area, hung in a visible spot or labeled cabinet (still listed on the March 2026 form)
