Certificate of Occupancy Required
Camden Resale Occupancy Certificate (C.R.O.C.); formerly Certificate of Continued Occupancy (C.C.O.) · City of Camden Construction & Building Bureau (Department of Code Enforcement)
- Zoning permit and zoning approval before the application is accepted
- Building, electrical, plumbing and fire inspections by the Building Bureau
- All open building permits must be closed before the inspection
- General inspection of the visible parts of the building for Uniform Construction Code violations

Smoke and CO alarm certificate Required
- 10-year sealed battery smoke alarm on every level, or hardwired where required; hardwired alarms cannot be replaced with battery units
- Smoke alarm on the ceiling in every bedroom
- Basement alarm at the bottom of the stairwell on the ceiling (not between joists); hallway alarm within 10 feet of all bedroom doors
- Hardwired smoke alarms and CO alarms must be less than 10 years old and working
- CO alarm in the hallway within 10 feet of all bedrooms; not in switched outlets or outlets at floor molding
- Fire extinguisher within 10 feet of the kitchen in the path of exit, mounted on a bracket, minimum rating 2A-10B:C, under 10 pounds
- House numbers at least 4 inches, contrasting, fixed to the house and visible from the street (numbers on a light post or mailbox not accepted)
- Monitored low-voltage fire alarm systems must be tested by an alarm contractor, with the certification given to the inspector
